NY Mets vs Rays live updates, score and analysis

ST. PETERSBURG — The Mets will have plenty of institutional knowledge as they look to secure a series win over the Rays on Tuesday night.

It will be a familiar face on the mound on the other side as Freddy Peralta takes on his former team, which dealt him ahead of the MLB trade deadline last month.

The Mets will be looking to secure a second straight win against Peralta and the Rays at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday at Tropicana Field.

"It'll be one day of the year you don't cheer for him. The rest of the year, he's the kind of guy you cheer for," Mets interim manager Andy Green said. "You want to see him do well. Obviously, we want to get to him. We know him well. Since he's been here, he had a really good outing last time. He's had some tough ones as well."

Peralta has seen some mixed results since joining the Rays, with two quality starts and 14 earned runs in 15⅓ innings across his other three. Peralta tossed six scoreless innings with two hits and four strikeouts in his most recent start against the Tigers. He's 6-11 with a 5.11 ERA.

Sean Manaea will be looking to get back on track for the Mets after surrendering six earned runs on eight hits and one walk in 5⅔ innings last time out against the Brewers.
