NBA legend LeBron James has already broken every standard of longevity. At 41 years old, with 23 seasons under his belt, James has raised the bar when it comes to sustained greatness, and he’s still not done after signing a two-year deal with the 76ers this summer.

Even so, LeBron is reminded every day that the end is near. In a recent post on his Instagram story, the basketball star reflected on his aging body and how his mileage on the court has impacted his daily routine.

“Aging is weird,” wrote LeBron. “On paper, I’m 40. In the gym, I feel 25. At 9 PM, I’m 87.”

For many years, LeBron was the peak of athleticism and durability, becoming the envy of players with his indestructible body. Over the years, LeBron has resorted to various methods to keep his game fresh, requiring millions of dollars and many hours in the gym to maintain his physique and stay one step ahead of the competition.

But as LeBron has aged, a natural decline has slowly faded his impact, forcing him to accept the reality of his situation. Now, unlike in years past, the King gets tired by 9 PM and experiences aches and pains that he never felt before. The only time LeBron feels younger is when he’s at the gym, where he continues to hit new milestones. At home is probably where LeBron feels the oldest nowadays, especially with his daughter Zhuri just starting sixth grade.

“My Baby Z’s first day of 6th grade today! Man o Man!! Ammo is fully loaded and I ain’t playing about my Princess,” wrote James on his story. Have a wonderful school year mama face, have fun and continue to be YOU! It’s always ENOUGH! Love you.”

For LeBron, it’s a weird feeling being stuck between youth and old age, but he’s learning how to adapt and adjust over time, thanks to his high basketball IQ. The process hasn’t been easy, but the important thing is that James hasn’t lost his motor or his desire to compete. Even at 41, he is willing and ready to put in the work required for success, even if it means more late nights and many hours of practice time throughout the week,

Ultimately, as a four-time champion, four-time MVP, and 22x All-Star, LeBron has nothing left to prove in the game of basketball, but his love and passion for the sport are enough to keep him active. How much longer he’ll go on is anyone’s guess, but some estimates say he could play until he’s 45 years old.

In the meantime, LeBron will find whatever time he can to devote to his family and spend time with his daughter, Zhuri, who is growing up before his eyes. It’s an interesting time for James, to say the least, but he seems to be making the most of it from what we’ve seen so far.
