The Chicago Bears set their initial 53-man roster and there have already been changes. The Bears are re-signing fan favorite linebacker Jack Sanborn, according to Draft Diamonds.
Sanborn was released as part of the initial wave of roster cuts on Sunday, leaving Chicago with just four linebackers on the roster: T.J. Edwards, Devin Bush, D'Marco Jackson and rookie Keyshaun Elliott. There was an assumption that the Bears could make this move as another linebacker was needed, and it makes sense to bring back Sanborn.
Sanborn originally signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent back in 2022, and he spent his first three seasons with the Bears. After the team opted not to bring him back, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys, where he played last season. Now, Sanborn once again gets a shot with his hometown team.
While this move is unofficial, it's expected to be the corresponding move for either safety Coby Bryant or tight end Hayden Large, who are both expected to be placed on injured reserve.
