The Wildcats were restricted from engaging in direct communication with Mitchell prior to his transfer portal entry. Notably, court documents indicated that Mitchell expressed a strong desire to play at Kentucky and would face harm if he were unable to compete this season.
Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 230 pounds, Mitchell has made a name for himself in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) over the past two seasons. He earned All-SEC honors in both years and was the leading scorer for the Tigers during the 2024-25 season, averaging 13.9 points per game, along with 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists. His performance improved significantly last season, where he averaged 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
Originally from Kansas, Mitchell has a wealth of experience, having played in 134 games (with 133 starts) throughout his college career. He began his journey at Duke before transferring to Missouri, where he continued to develop his skills and showcase his talent on the court.
