The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is all set to start soon and Team USA’s roster may concern fans.
Team USA was expected to be led by the experienced duo of A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum during the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
However, the experienced duo has decided to sit out the upcoming edition of the tournament to avoid picking up any injuries.

“My take before the recent USAB announcements was that the USA would win the World Cup by beating France in the final, but would lose one game in the group phase,” Roberta wrote on X.
She added, “Now, without A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, who are experienced FIBA players, I’m not so confident in that.
“I believe the USA could lose to Spain in the semifinals since it’s more likely that #1 of groups A and D will be playing in it.”
Despite the likes of Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers leading Team USA at the FIBA World Cup, Roberta feels the lack of a veteran presence in the locker room could end the team’s run earlier than expected.
Team USA has won four consecutive gold medals in FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. As a result, anything less than a gold medal will be considered a massive failure.
