Sep. 1—OLIVIA — The 2025 season was rough for the BOLD football team.
The Warriors went 2-7 for their first losing season since 2006. It came in stark contrast to the last four seasons where BOLD averaged 8.5 wins.
The goal for 2026 is for the Warriors to return to their winning ways.
Derek Flann returns for BOLD. He sports a career record of 122-52 over 17 seasons as a head coach. Flann's assistants are Kyle Athmann, Daren Sagedahl and Justin Martinson.
The Warriors have eight starters back. BOLD must replace two four-year starters in Emmitt Flann and Owen Baumgartner and a three-year starter in Hayden Edwards.
Gabe Bergstrom is back for his senior season to fill in at fullback and defensive end. A two-year starter and a three-year starter on defense, Bergstrom was fourth on the team with 56 total tackles. He has over 100 career tackles and seven career sacks. On offense, Bergstrom averaged more than five yards a carry while running for 386 yards and five scores.
Junior Colton Baumgartner returns at quarterback. He completed 53.3% of his passes for 464 yards with one touchdown and seven interceptions. He missed three games due to injury in 2025.
The Warriors' offense has two returning starters on the line in senior Ethan Herdina and junior Chuck Morse. Herdina started every game at left tackle last season. Morse, the center on offense, also starts at middle linebacker where he recorded 55 tackles last season.
Joining Morse at linebacker is senior Bryce Henslin, fresh off recording 47 tackles last season.
Matthew Benson is back at nose tackle. The defensive backfield brings back the duo of senior Tyce Weigel and junior Marcus Benson. Weigel will also play wide receiver.
