4 Arizona Cardinals players who could get contract extensions

The Arizona Cardinals have taken care of two players and their contracts since the start of training camp. They redid quarterback Jacoby Brissett's contract, giving him a bump in pay, and they gave center Hjate Froholdt a two-year contract extension worth $20 million, keeping him under contract through 2028.

There are other players who are due for extensions. Some we know have been engaged in talks. Others are uncertain.

Who could be next?

WR Michael Wilson

Wilson is coming off a career season and is in the final year of his contract. General manager Monti Ossenfort has said he wants Wilson to be on the team for a long time. However, there have been no talks of progress. He is looking for a deal that matches the wide receiver market, which puts him at more than $20 million per year.

OT Paris Johnson

Johnson is under contract through 2027, as the Cardinals exercised his fifth-year team option. That will pay him more than $19 million next year. He wants to be a $40 million per-year player. We know there have been talks.

LB Mack Wilson

Wilson enters the final year of his three-year contract and is a leader on the team both on and off the field. With the future of defensive coordinator Nick Rallis uncertain beyond this season, Wilson is also likely uncertain. As the defensive quarterback in the middle of the field, one would see why the Cardinals would want to extend him, but he also is a pretty average linebacker.

CB Garrett Williams

Williams is also in the final year of his contract, but his situation is tricky. In three NFL seasons, he has played one full one. In 2024, he was one of the best slot corners in the league analytically. But he missed half his rookie season with a Torn ACL he suffered in college and had two stints on injured reserve last season.

He was just activated from PUP and could be ready to play in Week 1, but between last year's injuries and struggles, the team might not be wise to extend him now, and he wouldn't get paid as much as next offseason if he is healthy and plays well again.
