The San Francisco 49ers overhauled their wide receiver room this offseason, as it's pretty much an entirely new supporting cast for Brock Purdy.
Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne signed elsewhere in free agency; Ricky Pearsall is out for the season due to injury, and Brandon Aiyuk is a total unknown, besides the fact that he's not playing for the team anymore.
While they added a lot of new and familiar faces to the WR room, one option stands out. Rookie second-round WR De'Zhaun Stribling has impressed, so much so that ESPN's Nick Wagoner believes he could be a "supercharged version" of Jauan Jennings.

"That might not necessarily mean he's starting, but it's realistic to think Stribling can step into the F position in the slot right away as a supercharged version of Jauan Jennings."
Jennings was a great receiver for the 49ers, catching 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns last season despite missing some time due to injury. The year before, in 2024, Jennings caught 77 of 113 targets for 975 yards and six touchdowns.
While losing Jennings in free agency does sting a bit, if Wagoner is right and Stribling is a "supercharged" version of Jennings, they just got an amazing WR on their hands for the next four seasons on a rookie deal.

Stribling began his preseason by catching seven of eight targets for 63 yards, followed by four catches on five targets for 46 yards in his second game. Then, Stribling missed the preseason finale after getting a shoulder injury in that second preseason game.
Stribling should be okay, and if he returns for Week 1 of the regular season, seeing what kind of role he has is going to be very interesting.
Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, and Deebo Samuel make up the top three receivers on this roster, but Stribling could easily surpass one or more of those receivers on the depth chart and carve out a stable role in Kyle Shanahan's offense.
Stribling could become a major focal point of the offense, especially if he lives up to the lofty comparison of a "supercharged" version of Jauan Jennings.
