64th Annual East Coast Surfing Championships Surf Forecast

Despite the lack of surf as of late heats have been running all week long down at the first street jetty in Virginia Beach for the 64th Annual East Coast Surfing Championships. Heading into the weekend you can still expect more small surf and lots of action.

Friday AM: Mix of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures will start in the 70s and quickly warm into the 80s. It will be humid with light southerly winds.

Friday PM: Scattered storms develop across the region. Mainly inland. Heavy rain will be possible with some storms along with frequent lightning. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

Saturday: A few stray showers are possible but otherwise it will be dry. A cold front will drop southeast of the region allowing for weather to improve. Skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 80s. Winds will be northeast at 5-10mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, warm and humid. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90. It will be very humid. Winds east at 5-10mph.

For the boaters, we will have a little rain to content with this weekend. Mainly on Friday as a slow moving cold front moves into the region. The timing looks to be for the afternoon hours. Some downpours and thunderstorms containing frequent lightning are possible. Try to target the morning hours of Friday and Sunday for any boating.

For the surfers, we will remain in the 1-2ft range through the weekend. Winds will be light so conditions will be clean to semi clean at times. Try to target low tide for the best shape and push to the waves. The East Coast Surfing Championships will continue to run heats through Sunday so check it out!
