Aryna Sabalenka serves fierce all-black look at pre-US Open event

WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka was serving in a different way at a recent pre US Open event for Material Good.

Gone were the Nike kits and practice wear tennis fans are accustomed to seeing, and in their place, a glamorous black dress.

Sabalenka brought her signature style and charisma to the event while walking hand-in-hand with fiance Georgios Frangulis.

Sabalenka enjoyed playing ping pong and admiring the jewels, some of which she will wearing during her matches.

She will wear 127 carats of Material Good jewelry

Sabalenka is reportedly wearing a total of 127 carats of Material Good jewelry during the US Open. This wil consist of an 83.2 carat necklace, 28.36 carat bracelet, and 15.58 carat earrings. The gemstones will have worldwide origins.

The number could be symbolic of the 128-person women’s singles draw, and the number of players vying for the defending champion Sabalenka’s ranking and US Open title.

A relaxed and happy Sabalenka

By her lofty standards, Sabalenka has not had a great season. She won the Sunshine Double in March but hasn’t won a title since. Her last Grand Slam win was last year at the US Open.

She has looked tense on the court in recent months so it is great to see her relaxed and happy at this pre US Open event.

Her WTA World No. 1 ranking could be at stake yet this year depending on how the final months of the season play out. Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff could all vie for it, but a lot will hinge on how each woman plays at the US Open when main draw play begins on Sunday, August 30.
