It really seemed like Ashton Jeanty avoided a devastating injury over the weekend. The Las Vegas Raiders running back reportedly couldn't put weight on his leg on Sunday, but reports said it was a sprained ankle.
ESPN's Ian Rapoport provided more details as Mike Washington Jr. could be the RB1 for the Raiders for a bit: The ankle injury is "more low than high" (there would be bigger concern if it was a high ankle sprain) and it's not major.
On top of that, as he said on NFL Network Tuesday morning, "The reality is, there is a chance that Ashton Jeanty may not be on the field for Week 1. They are hopeful that he will be, there's a chance that he won't be."

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 25, 2026All in all, the worst possible outcome was avoided. At least there's that for Raiders fans and fantasy football managers to hold on to.
Where should Ashton Jeanty go in 2026 fantasy football drafts? After all this news? It feels like he's still a second-round pick. Even if he misses Week 1, there's enough time for him to recover and be ready for the bulk of the work in the Raiders offense.
