Auburn soccer produces another clean performance in win over KSU

Auburn soccer found success in its first road game of the season by taking down Kennesaw State on Thursday.

Auburn's defense played at an elite level yet again as it preserved its fourth straight shutout by blanking the Owls, 4-0, on Thursday in Kennesaw, Georgia. A mixture of solid defense and offensive power from Ava Caldwell led the Tigers to another early-season victory.

Auburn (3-0-1) set the tone quickly by scoring its first goal just 12 minutes into the match. Gracie Brown secured the Tigers' first goal thanks to an assist from Kennedy Husbands. Auburn's offense went quiet the rest of the first half, but picked up steam in the second half by scoring three goals, two scored by Ava Caldwell.

Auburn made 28 shots in the win and limited Kennesaw State to just two; none landed on target. It was another dominating effort by the Tigers on the pitch, but head coach James Armstrong believes there are several things the Tigers can work on before their next game.

“A win is a win, and on the road is definitely difficult so we will take it,” head coach James Armstrong said postgame. “Another clean sheet and we created lots of chances. I think the second half was much improved from the first. We also got a lot of players experience tonight so that is another bonus. We’re headed back to Auburn happy with the win, but we still have a lot to work on.”

Auburn returns to its home stadium on Sunday to face Georgia State for Senior Night. The match is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
