Barcelona have officially confirmed Hector Fort’s departure from the club, with the young defender completing a move to Real Sociedad.
The Catalan club will receive €8.5 million for 50% of Fort’s rights while retaining a buy-back option and a percentage of any future transfer.

Barcelona will continue to hold an interest in the player despite his departure, with the deal including provisions that could allow the Catalan giants to bring him back.
The club can exercise a buy-back option for €20 million until 2028, with that figure increasing to €25 million until 2029.
Barcelona will also retain a percentage of any future sale involving Fort.
Fort’s departure brings an end to a 13-year spell with Barcelona after he joined the club’s academy as a young player.
The defender spent last season on loan at Elche, where his performances on the right flank attracted attention.
However, a serious shoulder injury interrupted his progress after he scored his first league goal for Elche. Fort underwent surgery before returning towards the end of the season.
Despite his return, Fort was unable to establish a place in Hansi Flick’s first-team plans after pre-season.
Barcelona had several options at right-back, with Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde and Xavi Espart ahead of Fort.
Real Sociedad eventually secured his signature after competing with several clubs for the defender.
Fort has now completed his move to San Sebastian, where he will look to begin the next chapter of his career while Barcelona retain a significant interest in his future.
