Bella Mir was losing and her mom was boozing.
My daughter is the same age as Bella so I would probably need a few drinks to watch her fight too. I don’t think anyone is holding that against her. But Jennifer Mir, who married former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir back in late 2024, took it one step further and vented her frustrations on social media, burying opponent Alex Apodaca for her bookie-busting upset atop Dana White’s “Contender Series.”
“I want to address the comments I made after the fight,” Jennifer wrote on social media. “But first, I want to give you all a very deserved explanation. After the fight, I went on to Bella’s comments and saw comments telling my daughter to die and kill herself. I reacted as purely an emotional and protective mother after seeing my daughter go through such a hard loss and let the alcohol and adrenaline get the better of me.”
Sadly, death threats and toxicity are part and parcel of the UFC experience.
“However, that is ZERO excuse,” Mir continued. “I want to sincerely apologize Alex Apodaca, her team, the judges, and the fans. Alex fought a brilliant fight and earned that win fair and square and deserves nothing but respect. My out-of-line comments were entirely my own and do not reflect Bella and her team, or the values she trains by. I am stepping back from social media to let Bella focus on her recovery and I ask everyone to direct their frustration towards me and not my daughter.”
And direct the dick pics to NOBODY.
The 23-year-old Bella (4-1) came into her “Contender Series” debut with four years worth of hype from UFC CEO Dana White, on top of the expectations she already had from being Frank’s daughter. The discourse surrounding her first professional loss would ordinarily be over by now, but Jennifer’s contributions have continued to keep the news wheel turning.
