The upcoming 25th Alfred Dunhill Links Championship promises to be a spectacular event, bringing together a mix of Hollywood stars and renowned athletes to partner with top golf professionals. Scheduled from October 1 to 4, this prestigious tournament will take place across three iconic Links courses: the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns.
Among the notable participants is Bill Murray, who has become a fan favorite for his portrayal of the eccentric greenkeeper Carl in the classic film "Caddyshack." This year marks Murray's 11th appearance in the Dunhill Links Team Championship, where he will showcase his golfing skills alongside some of the best in the sport.
Joining Murray is actress Kathryn Newton, who had aspirations of becoming a professional golfer during her high school years. Newton was set to compete as an amateur in the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open but had to withdraw after landing her first leading role in the film "Paranormal Activity 4." Since then, she has made a name for herself in television and film, including significant roles in CBS's "Gary Unmarried," HBO's "Big Little Lies," and Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship features two distinct competitions: an individual professional event for elite golfers and a Team Championship where professionals are paired with amateur players. This format allows for a unique blend of competition and camaraderie, making it a favorite among participants.
In addition to Murray and Newton, the event will feature a variety of music celebrities, including Tom Chaplin from Keane, Linkin Park's Dave Farrell—who is making his 10th appearance—singer-songwriter Ronan Keating, and rock legend Huey Lewis, who has been involved since the inaugural event in 2001.
Olympic rowing icon Sir Steve Redgrave will also participate, marking his 25th consecutive appearance at the Dunhill Links. Redgrave expressed his appreciation for the event, stating, "It’s truly enjoyable and an honour to be part of the Dunhill Links. I really want to congratulate Alfred Dunhill on creating this wonderful event which has been such a marvellous sporting occasion for 25 years now." He will be joined by other sports legends, including 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Dutch football star Ruud Gullit, and champion jump jockey Sir Tony (A.P.) McCoy.
This year’s professional field is particularly strong, featuring defending champion Bob MacIntyre, England’s Tyrrell Hatton—who is vying for his fourth Dunhill title—Padraig Harrington, who has also played in all 25 Championships, and 2023 winner Matt Fitzpatrick. Other notable golfers include his brother Alex Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, and seven-time Ryder Cup participant Ian Poulter. Lee Westwood, the 2003 champion, returns for the first time since 2019, when he famously made a hole-in-one at Carnoustie.
With a robust lineup of international talent, including Major Championship winners Brooks Koepka, Bubba Watson, and Cam Smith, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is set to deliver an unforgettable experience.
