The Lions hit the home pitch Thursday taking on Muncie Central in boys soccer action. The Lions got on the board first, but two unanswered goals by the Bearcats gave Muncie Central a 2-1 victory.
Rushville opened the scoring on a blast off the foot of Colton England. From 30 yards out, England found the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead for the home squad.
Muncie Central tied the game to send the teams to the half all square at 1-1. A lone second half goal by the Bearcats was the difference maker.
England's goal was his seventh of the season.
In junior varsity action, the Lions fell 3-0.
Rushville (2-2) returns to action Monday hosting Triton Central.
Batesville
Thursday, the Batesville Bulldogs traveled to Lawrenceburg for a conference matchup against the Tigers.
Batesville struck early when Cohen Flannery played a long ball through the center that Trenton Taylor chased down before calmly finishing to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
Batesville controlled possession and continued creating chances throughout the first half. Early in the second half, Batesville's Ronan Post capitalized on a Lawrenceburg foul outside the box, driving a long-range free kick over the keeper and into the side netting for a 2-0 lead.
With 3:10 remaining, Batesville's Ryan McGuire struck a long shot that was deflected by the keeper, allowing RJ Sherman to follow up and finish into the open net for a 3-0 final.
