BPG Sports, the sports management division of Buccini Pollin Group, has made significant strides in southern Delaware by acquiring four youth sports programs. This expansion marks a notable enhancement of their portfolio in the state and reflects their commitment to youth athletics.
The newly acquired programs include the Coastal Lacrosse Academy, along with long-term management agreements with the Bagel Bombers baseball club, the Lady Bombers softball club, and the Delmarva Rush Soccer Club. These acquisitions are set to bolster BPG Sports' influence in the local sports community.
As part of this strategic move, the Coastal Lacrosse Academy will undergo a rebranding to become the Coastal Elite Lacrosse Club. This change aligns with BPG Sports' goal of integrating the academy into its extensive Mid-Atlantic lacrosse network, which already comprises established entities such as the BPG Nationals, Brotherly Love Lacrosse Club, Duke’s Elite Lacrosse Club, and the Phantom Girls Lacrosse program.
BPG Sports has indicated that its lacrosse programs will now cater to over 1,000 players each year, a significant increase in participation that underscores the growing popularity of the sport in the region. Furthermore, the Henlopen Recreational Soccer program will also join the roster, serving over 1,000 players through 12 teams based at Sandhill Fields in Georgetown. This addition enhances BPG's soccer offerings, which already include the Sporting Athletic Club.
Under the agreements with the Bagel Bombers and Lady Bombers, BPG Sports will take over the daily operations and management of these travel clubs, ensuring a seamless transition and continued support for the athletes involved. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance youth sports experiences across various disciplines.
Earlier this year, BPG Sports also took over management of Sports at the Beach, a prominent tournament destination for youth travel baseball teams located near Georgetown. This facility is under a 15-year management agreement, further solidifying BPG's commitment to fostering youth sports in Delaware.
With these latest acquisitions, BPG Sports now boasts a total of 11 programs, collectively serving around 4,500 athletes and their families across four different sports. This growth not only highlights the organization's expanding influence in youth sports but also emphasizes its dedication to providing quality athletic opportunities for young athletes in the region.
