Butch Thompson of Auburn Baseball to be Inducted into ABCA Hall of Fame

Auburn University baseball head coach Butch Thompson has reached yet another milestone in his impressive coaching career. On Wednesday, it was announced that he will be inducted into the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame, adding to his list of accolades earned during his 11 seasons at the helm of the Tigers.

The ABCA's announcement revealed that Thompson will be honored alongside two other esteemed coaches from the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), Michael Blair of Maplesville High School and Drew Miller of G.W. Long High School, who are also part of this year's induction class.

Thompson's tenure at Auburn has been marked by significant achievements, making him one of the most successful coaches in the program's history. He has led the Tigers to two appearances in the College World Series, five NCAA Regional championships, and has hosted NCAA Super Regionals in consecutive seasons. His 11 years in charge rank as the third-longest in Auburn's history, following Paul Nix, who coached for 22 seasons, and Hal Baird, who served for 16 seasons.

This upcoming induction into the ABCA Hall of Fame will be Thompson's third such honor. He was previously inducted into the Itawamba Community College Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference Hall of Fame in 2021, reflecting his long-standing commitment and contributions to the sport of baseball at various levels.

The official induction ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, at 7 p.m. CT in Hoover, Alabama. This event will not only celebrate Thompson's accomplishments but also serve as a testament to his influence on the game and the many players he has mentored throughout his career.

Thompson's recognition by the ABCA highlights the importance of coaching in developing young athletes and fostering a love for baseball. His leadership at Auburn has not only brought success on the field but has also cultivated a strong program that continues to attract talent and support from the community.
