Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, coming off one of the best seasons of his career, sees a fellow legendary AFC veteran as the standard at the position.
During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast released Tuesday, Taylor discussed the NFL’s top running backs and singled out Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry while showing respect for Saquon Barkley, Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Pivot co-host Ryan Clark later described Henry as the “standard-setter for the position” while summarizing Taylor’s comments and the competition among the league’s elite backs.
Henry rushed for 1,595 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025, finishing just 10 yards ahead of Taylor despite recording 16 fewer carries.
Taylor had the edge in the end zone. The Colts star led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns and 20 total touchdowns to also finish with 1,585 rushing yards on 323 carries.
That level of production -- and previous excellent years -- helped Taylor earn a contract extension with Indianapolis earlier in August.
Both Taylor and Henry have been two of the NFL’s most productive runners for years. Taylor led the league with 1,811 rushing yards in 2021, while Henry has surpassed 1,500 yards in five different seasons.
