The WNBA may not have handed out a ban to Enes Kanter, but it seems as if they aren’t afraid to dish out punishments elsewhere.
It’s safe to say that the WNBA is dealing with a pretty wild wave of fan disruptions right now, with culture-war politics spilling right onto the court. We’ve seen guys getting kicked out for throwing d***** onto the floor, which drew some furious reactions from players like Natasha Cloud.
Then things got even weirder when Enes Kanter Freedom showed up to a Chicago Sky game wearing a trans-exclusionary shirt, got into a shouting match with Cloud from courtside, and ended up banned from the arena.
On top of that, Sophie Cunningham is getting routinely booed by road crowds after making anti-trans comments online.
Between the arena incidents and pro-trans versus conservative protesters arguing outside front gates, the league is stuck trying to manage heavy political friction while keeping the actual basketball from getting sidelined.
Patrick Cutler claims he’s been banned from attending WNBA games involving Angel ReeseComedian Patrick W. Cutler has built a viral online following by posting a relentless series of satirical videos and parodies targeting WNBA star Angel Reese.
Wearing wigs and mimicking her on-court style, his constant trolling sparked heavy online debate, eventually leading to claims that he was banned from attending her games.
And the comedian has now confirmed the WNBA ban on his personal X account.
Whilst citing an ESPN piece, he said: “The WNBA has officially banned me from attending any games that involve Angel Reese. Absolutely insane.”
There has been no official announcement from the WNBA, but it does seem slightly harsh to ban Cutler, who is clearly doing these videos in good spirit and on a humorous level, opposed to wanting to cause any harm or be malicious towards Angel Reese.
But you can also see the flip side of things, where him potentially showing up to games sheds a bit of a negative light on Angel Reese and draws the attention to him.
