NEW YORK – Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy removed shortstop Cooper Pratt from the game Aug. 25 for what did not appear to be injury reasons.
Immediately following a bloop single by Pratt in the fifth inning at Citi Field in which he didn't advance to second base despite the urging of first base coach Spencer Allen, Murphy sent David Hamilton in to pinch-run for the 22-year-old.
Pratt had dunked a ball in between three New York Mets fielders in shallow right, and as the ball kicked away, Allen motioned for him to turn and head to second. But Pratt didn't get an immediate read on the ball bouncing away and remained at first.
Pratt also failed to get a sacrifice bunt down in his first trip to the plate, which ended in a ground out.
