Powell also has prior experience leading the Jamaica Tallawahs, making him a seasoned figure in the CPL, having captained in 65 matches with a record of 25 wins and 37 losses.
In another significant change, Moeen Ali takes over the captaincy of the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons from Imad Wasim. This marks Ali's first stint as captain in the CPL, and he will be eager to elevate the team's performance compared to the previous season. Ali brings a wealth of leadership experience from various T20 leagues, including the T20 Blast, The Hundred, and the ILT20.
The Trinbago Knight Riders have opted to retain Nicholas Pooran as their captain, following his successful leadership that led the team to victory in the last edition. The Knight Riders will be looking to Pooran to guide them to their fourth CPL title, building on the success of the previous season.
Returning to the captaincy after a four-year hiatus is Roston Chase, who will lead the St Lucia Kings. Chase previously captained the Kings in the 2022 edition and has experience leading the West Indies in eight T20 internationals, achieving five wins. Currently, he is at the helm of the West Indies Test team against Pakistan, adding to his leadership credentials.
The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have also confirmed their captain, retaining Jason Holder for the new season. Holder's leadership will be crucial as the team aims to improve its performance this year.
Lastly, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will be captained by the veteran Imran Tahir, who at 47 years old continues to defy age. Under his guidance, the Warriors reached the final last season but fell short against the Knight Riders in a low-scoring thriller. Recently, Tahir led the Warriors to defend their Global Super League title, showcasing his ability to lead under pressure.
