As the Detroit Lions prepare to kick off their season at Ford Field on September 13 against the New Orleans Saints, fans can look forward to an array of new culinary offerings designed to enhance their game-day experience. In a recent media preview, the Lions and their food and beverage partner, Levy, showcased a selection of mouthwatering items that will be available throughout the season.
This year’s menu features a mix of innovative dishes and interactive food experiences, alongside returning favorites. Among the standout items are butter chicken tacos, shrimp-loaded fries, and potstickers, all aimed at satisfying the diverse tastes of the Lions' fanbase.
Matt Coleman, executive chef at Levy, expressed his enthusiasm for the new Food Passport program, which encourages fans to explore the various cuisines that reflect Detroit's rich cultural tapestry. "We are bringing in a lot of the different cultures and cuisines from the different neighborhoods within and surrounding Detroit and finding ways to bring it into stadium fare," Coleman stated.
The Food Passport initiative allows fans to collect stamps by purchasing specific food items that represent different Detroit neighborhoods. With eight unique offerings, including Corktown corned beef nachos and Brush Park BBQ chicken wings, fans can indulge in local flavors while competing for prizes. Collecting three stamps enters fans to win Lions merchandise, while completing the passport can lead to a signed jersey from star player Aidan Hutchinson.
In addition to the Food Passport, Ford Field will continue to feature its popular “Power Hour,” offering discounted food and beverage options for the first hour after gates open. Returning attractions include the ultimate Bloody Mary bar and themed cocktails that celebrate both the Lions and their opponents.
Among the new culinary partners at Ford Field is Xav’s Jammin Caribbean Fusion, which brings a taste of the Caribbean with items like jerk chicken wings and chicken empanadas. Another returning favorite is Berkley’s Bombshell Treat Bar, known for its unique salt and pepper caramel corn and signature ice cream bars.
Fans can also look forward to the Indian-fusion street food from Dearborn’s Paradise Street Eats & Biryani, featuring dishes such as butter chicken tacos and loaded fries. This variety not only highlights the flavors of Detroit but also showcases the city’s commitment to supporting local businesses.
