Dodgers Pitcher Will Klein Out for Remainder of Regular Season Due to Injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers have seen many players rise to the occasion during their recent World Series triumphs, but one of the most surprising contributors has been right-hander Will Klein. Klein's standout performance in Game 3 of the 2025 World Series was pivotal, as he delivered four scoreless innings that allowed the Dodgers to clinch a dramatic victory in the bottom of the 18th inning.

Following his impressive showing in the Fall Classic, Klein secured a spot on the active roster for the 2026 season. Initially, he was a key asset in the Dodgers' bullpen, showcasing his talent as one of the most effective pitchers in the first half of the season. However, after the All-Star break, Klein's performance took a downturn, as he struggled significantly, giving up nine runs over just 4 1/3 innings, which raised his season ERA to 3.67.

On August 1, the Dodgers placed Klein on the 15-day injured list due to discomfort in his right elbow and the presence of loose bodies. Klein opted for rest and rehabilitation rather than immediate surgery, hoping to return to the mound in time for the postseason. Unfortunately, his recovery has not progressed sufficiently for the team to feel confident about his return in September.

As a result, ahead of their matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Dodgers made the decision to transfer Klein to the 60-day injured list, effectively ending his regular season. This move highlights the team's cautious approach to his health, as they prioritize his long-term recovery over a rushed return.

According to reports from Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, while Klein's regular season is over, there remains a possibility for him to contribute in October, contingent on his health as the playoffs approach. The Dodgers will be monitoring his progress closely as they prepare for the postseason.

With Klein sidelined, the Dodgers are set to welcome back right-hander Blake Treinen, who has been out since June. Treinen brings a wealth of October experience and is expected to step into Klein's role in the bullpen, providing the Dodgers with added depth as they gear up for the playoffs.
