The Miami Dolphins have a great history of defensive tackles. Manny Fernandez, Bob Baumhower, Tim Bowens, Daryl Gardner, Randy Starks, Paul Soliai, and Ndamukong Suh immediately come to mind when thinking through Miami’s greats at the position. Christian Wilkins was great when he was with Miami. Calais Campbell was dominant, albeit in a short stint with the Dolphins. Miami’s defensive tackles have been great throughout the history of the team.

Chris Perkins from the South Florida Sun Sentinel highlights the current defensive tackles’ play this summer and points out they have big shoes to fill given Miami’s history at the position:

If you want to find an up and coming unit on the low-expectation Miami Dolphins, a group that’s outperforming since the start of training camp, look toward the trenches and focus your attention on the defensive tackles.

Among veteran Zach Sieler, youngsters Jordan Phillips, Zeek Biggers and Kenneth Grant, and relative unknowns Matthew Butler, who got significant playing time last season, and Keith Cooper Jr., the Dolphins might have something at defensive tackle.

That’s a good thing because these defensive tackles have a bit of a Dolphins tradition to uphold.

You can check out the rest of that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Dolphins camp: Malik Willis throws 2 INTs as offense struggles; plus stock up, stock down – Chris Perkins, South Florida Sun Sentinel
The Miami Dolphins‘ offense struggled Tuesday as quarterback Malik Willis had one of his roughest practices and the offensive line struggled with pass protection. The Dolphins did intrasquad 1 on 1s for one of the few times in training camp and 2-on-2 drills, the latter being offensive line vs. defensive line, for the first time in training camp Tuesday.

‘Very relatable.’ How a visit from Udonis Haslem inspired the 2026 Dolphins – C. Isaiah Smalls II, Miami Herald
It’s not every day that an undrafted local legend comes to practice. Such was the case Monday afternoon when Miami Heat lifer Udonis Haslem came to the Baptist Health Training Facility to speak to his hometown team. The message that he gave certainly resonated with this Miami Dolphins team.

What Dolphins coaches had to say about the rookie third-round pick

Dolphins’ Kenneth Grant to miss more time injured; Trey Moore to have surgery – David Furones, South Florida Sun Sentinel
Miami Dolphins second-year defensive tackle Kenneth Grant still needs more time to recover from an injury that’s been keeping him sidelined in training camp. “Kenneth will not be around this week,” Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley said ahead of the team’s Tuesday practice. “I would say doubtful for the following week. I would say he’s week to week.”

Dolphins offensive skill players struggling

Dolphins might have NFL’s worst collection of hands at TE, WR and RB – Chris Perkins, South Florida Sun Sentinel
So let’s see, the rebuilding Miami Dolphins have Tutu, Malik, The Frenchman, Jalen, another Jalen, A.J., Theo, a London native and four rookies, including a Will. And most would say that there’s no way this collection of Dolphins pass catchers — wide receivers Tutu Atwell and Malik Washington, tight end Greg Dulcich, wide receivers Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Reagor, A.J. Henning and Theo Wease Jr., tight end Seydou Traore, rookie wide receivers Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas, Kevin Coleman Jr., and rookie tight end Will Kacmarek — will amount to much more than the worst group in the NFL.
