Miami signed Malik Willis in the offseason to a 3-year, $67.5 million deal, making him their quarterback of the future.
Over the weekend, though, Miami parted ways with all three of Willis' backup options.
The Dolphins traded Quinn Ewers to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday and followed that up by waiving both Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski on Sunday.
These moves left Willis as the only quarterback on the roster. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Miami was interested in bringing Gronowski back to the practice squad if he clears waivers, but that still doesn't answer the question of who will back up Willis.
McCord was a sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on the team's practice squad.
The 23-year-old QB was released in the offseason and landed with the Packers during training camp and the preseason.
Now, McCord gets the chance to back up Willis and likely start the season on the 53-man roster in Miami.
