Emiliano Martínez offered to Chelsea: Blues weigh move amid doubts over Robert Sánchez

Chelsea are in negotiations with the representatives of Emiliano Martínez ahead of a potential late move for the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

Martinez has been offered to Chelsea as the Argentina international looks to secure an exit from Villa Park. The 33-year-old saw a potential move to Juventus break down earlier in the summer, while interest from the Saudi Pro League has not materialised in a move.

Martinez is searching for a new challenge with Aston Villa having signed Zion Suzuki from Parma as the club's new first-choice goalkeeper.

The Athletic are reporting that Martinez has been offered to Chelsea and is keen on a potential move to West London.

Chelsea are considering a late bid for Martinez, amid reservations of Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard was at fault for Fulham's goals during Chelsea's 3-2 win at Craven Cottage in thePremier League on Monday night, and has struggled to convince at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea also have 21-year-old Mike Penders, who has returned to the club this summer after spending last season on loan at Strasbourg.

However, Martinez would represent an experienced upgrade in goal after a wealth of success in recent years. The two-time Yashin Trophy winner has won three major tournaments with Argentina, including the 2022 World Cup, and lifted the Europa League with Aston Villa last season.
