In his latest push against WNBA leadership, Enes Kanter is proposing an unusual compromise.
The Chicago Sky banned Enes Kanter Freedom from Wintrust Arena after a heated baseline dispute with guard Natasha Cloud. Team ownership called his appearance a deliberate provocation, whereas Freedom claimed he was ejected simply for sitting courtside in a shirt defining a woman.
The WNBA itself avoided imposing a league-wide ban, claiming that Kanter didn’t do anything to warrant a ban himself.
However, the ongoing saga is far from over, as league officials remain in no rush to rewrite their underlying gender eligibility rules, taking a wait-and-see approach.
But Kanter has other ideas and is ready to put forward a solution of his own.
Enes Kanter comes up with a new idea for the WNBAEnes Kanter Freedom has offered the WNBA a peace summit moderated by Caitlyn Jenner to define what a woman is, in an interview with Benny Johnson.
He said: “If the NBA and task force and, obviously, the Commissioner, Kathy Engelbert, are okay with it, l am offering them a peace summit that is moderated by one of the best female athletes ever, Caitlyn Jenner. I think she’ll be the best person to understand what’s going on and moderate the whole thing, so if they’re okay with it, I’m here to talk.
“So, l am offering a peace deal to the WNBA, yes.”
As we know, Caitlyn Jenner previously publicly supported Enes Kanter Freedom’s stunt, framing the issue around biological sex and calling for clear WNBA policy boundaries.
Addressing league commissioner Cathy Engelbert on Fox News, Jenner insisted the rules should be as simple as “XX, you’re in; XY, you’re out”, to protect biological women’s sports under Title IX.
