Fenerbahçe reach Champions League for first time in over 15 years

Fenerbahçe reached the Champions League for the first time in over 15 years with a 2-1 win at Olympique Lyon on Wednesday, sealing one of the final four places in the league phase.

The Turkish side advanced 3-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Viking Stavanger of Norway, AEK Athens of Greece and Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia also booked their places in the competition ahead of Thursday's draw in Monaco.

The other 32 teams had already qualified for the league phase.

Fenerbahçe took control in Lyon with two goals in four minutes as Vedat Muriqi and Archie Brown struck in the 24th and 28th minutes.

Malick Fofana pulled one back for Lyon in the 61st, but the French side twice had goals for 2-2 ruled out following VAR reviews.

There were scuffles between players from both teams after the final whistle.

Elsewhere, Viking Stavanger beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 to advance 5-3 on aggregate, AEK Athens thrashed Levski Sofia 4-0, while Slovan Bratislava needed extra time to beat NK Celje 2-1.
