Feyenoord is reportedly in pursuit of former Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, who is currently available on a free transfer following the termination of his contract with the Premier League club. The 26-year-old could be on the verge of returning to Rotterdam, where he previously enjoyed a successful loan spell.

Nelson, a product of the Arsenal academy, made his first-team debut during the 2017/2018 season, appearing in 16 matches. His career took a pivotal turn the following year when he was loaned to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. During his time in Germany, he made a significant impact, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances. After returning to Arsenal, Nelson struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, managing just over 30 appearances across two seasons, contributing three goals and three assists.

In the 2021/2022 season, Nelson joined Feyenoord on loan, where he had a breakout year. He featured in 32 matches for the Eredivisie side, netting four goals and providing seven assists, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level. This period at Feyenoord is often regarded as the most productive of his career, highlighting his potential when given ample playing time.

After his successful stint in the Netherlands, Nelson returned to Arsenal with hopes of becoming a regular starter. However, his opportunities remained limited, and he was loaned out again for the 2024/2025 season, this time to Fulham. Unfortunately, his time at Fulham was less fruitful, as he managed only 12 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Last season, he continued his search for playing time with a loan to Brentford, where he made 14 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice. Despite these challenges, Nelson's experience in the Premier League and previous success in the Eredivisie make him a valuable asset.

A return to Feyenoord could be a beneficial move for Nelson, allowing him to recapture the form that made him a standout player during his previous tenure. The club's interest reflects their desire to bolster their squad with a player who has already demonstrated his capabilities in their system.
