Fifth-tier side HEBC Hamburg have so far sold 39,400 tickets for Tuesday's German Cup first-round game with Borussia Dortmund - having switched the fixture to SV Hamburg's Volksparkstadion.
The number was confirmed to dpa by club president Konstantin Zimmermann on Friday. HEBC's average gate is 600.
"In theory, 57,000 spectators would fit in. But the north stand is reserved for SV Hamburg members. That is why we do not expect it to be completely full. But even so, it is outstanding. The dream has already come true," Zimmermann said.
Even with just 17,000 spectators, the modest club would have made a profit after deducting fixed costs such as the stadium rent, he added.
