Florida State Baseball Secures Commitment from In-State Infielder Alex Rodriguez

The Florida State University baseball program has bolstered its future roster by securing a commitment from in-state infielder Alex Rodriguez. The talented player made the announcement via social media, expressing his excitement about joining the Seminoles.

In his post, Rodriguez stated, "I am extremely grateful and excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Florida State University! First off, I want to thank my parents for always being there for me and always believing in me. I also want to thank all my coaches along the way that have helped me get to where I am now. Go Noles!" Rodriguez hails from Plant City, Florida, and has just completed an impressive sophomore season at Plant City High School. Over the course of the season, he showcased his offensive prowess, finishing with a batting average of .329. His performance included five home runs, six doubles, and 18 runs batted in (RBI) across 28 games. With 100 plate appearances, he tallied 28 hits and 14 walks, demonstrating a keen eye at the plate with only 10 strikeouts.

His offensive statistics reflect a strong on-base percentage of .420 and a slugging percentage of .624, indicating his ability to not only get on base but also to drive the ball effectively. Additionally, Rodriguez displayed his speed on the bases, successfully stealing six bases throughout the season. Defensively, he played shortstop, where he recorded a fielding percentage of .917, committing seven errors in 84 chances.

In addition to his skills as an infielder, Rodriguez also took the mound during the season. He posted a solid earned run average (ERA) of 3.29 over 17 innings, achieving a record of 1-1 with one save. In this role, he allowed 10 runs on 16 hits and eight walks while striking out an impressive 24 batters, showcasing his versatility as a player.
