Caitlin Clark has legions of fans throughout the United States, including some in media. One of her most outspoken supporters in the sports broadcasting world is Linda Cohn.
Cohn, the longtime SportsCenter anchor, has moved into independent media since her mutual departure from ESPN earlier this year. Clark is one of her frequent topics on The Linda Cohn Show, Cohn’s twice weekly YouTube program.
On Wednesday, Cohn took to X to call out what she feels is disrespect toward the Indiana Fever star, who Cohn has argued should be this year’s WNBA MVP.
No names named, but a message sent“I love when those who go out of their way to NOT acknowledge the tremendous impact Caitlin Clark has had on the WNBA, post the record breaking ratings of a WNBA game, without mentioning the fact Caitlin Clark played in it!” Cohn tweeted.
We’re not sure who Cohn is referring to that she believes isn’t giving Clark her due, but the record-breaking ratings were from Sunday’s game between the Fever and Chicago Sky. The matchup drew 3.31 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, making it the most-watched WNBA game since the league’s opening weekend in 1997.
The Fever pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 113-90. Afterwards, the biggest headline came from the courtside ejection of former NBA big man Enes Kanter Freedom following an altercation with Chicago guard Natasha Cloud.
Cohn is not having a quiet ‘retirement’Since leaving ESPN, Cohn has used her YouTube and social media platforms to provide commentary on a number of controversial topics, including the WNBA’s transgender policy and other intersections of sports and society.
“The stuff that I have strong opinions on is the stuff I haven’t been allowed to say,” Cohn told Barrett Media’s John Mamola. “The stuff that’s usually trending and hot topics are the things I tend to want to discuss the most. That’s the stuff that I had the gag order on every year I was with ESPN and weren’t allowed to talk about.”
She’s clearly not slowing down on sharing her opinions.
