In a thrilling contest held on September 5, Jones High School's football team secured a hard-fought 12-6 victory against their rivals, Evans, in the much-anticipated Soul Bowl. The game highlighted the exceptional performance of Fred Ards, a four-star EDGE rusher and Texas A&M commit, who played a pivotal role in the triumph.
Ards, standing at 6-foot-4 ½ and weighing 220 pounds, was a dominant force on the field, registering three sacks against Evans’ offense, which was led by quarterback William Jackson, a Maryland commit. Each of Ards' sacks showcased his versatility, employing different techniques to outmaneuver blockers and disrupt plays. His performance did not go unnoticed, as one of the Tigers' assistant coaches enthusiastically proclaimed, “Fred Ards has all the tools!”
Reflecting on the intensity of the game, Ards stated, “It was a big game. Coach told us to knock these boys' heads off. Give it all we’ve got.
