FSU's offensive keys vs. New Mexico State

Florida State has been through its spring program and fall camp, and now the season is set to start this Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium against the New Mexico State Aggies. They're currently 31.5-point favorites to win.

FSU has a new starting quarterback in Ashton Daniels, who transferred from the Auburn Tigers. They were able to retain All-ACC wide receiver Duce Robinson to pair once again with Micahi Danzy, which was huge. They also have three capable running backs in Ousmane Kromah, Samuel Singleton Jr., and Quintrevion Wisner, plus they're brought in experienced offensive linemen through the transfer portal.

The weapons are there for the Seminoles, but this is a new team and the start of a new season, and every year is different. So, with that said, here are five offensive keys for Florida State in Week 0 as they look to avoid a stunning upset.

Daniels may be facing what many feel is an inferior defense, but he's got to be sharp in this game against New Mexico State. The key is to make sound decisions, don't turn the ball over, and finish drives. With the SMU Mustangs coming in Week 1, a much bigger challenge, Daniels needs to get off to a great start.

The Aggies gave up 165 yards rushing per game last season. FSU has several backs that can keep the chains moving, so they need to establish the run early and wear down the defense of New Mexico State. This will also help Daniels by keeping the defense honest and allowing him to take some shots.

Robinson torched opposing defenses for nearly 1,100 yards a year ago, and Danzy racked 21.1 yards per catch. The size of the former at 6-foot-6 and the track speed of the latter should cause some matchup problems for New Mexico State and assist in the running game being successful.

The best way to establish dominance is to win in the trenches. Florida State can put this game away early if they control New Mexico State's defensive front, and it will also keep their defensive teammates fresh so that they can do the same.

The easiest way to get upset is to turn the ball over. Last season, the Aggies' defense was tied for 14th in turnovers, making it one of the only bright spots for a bad unit. If the Seminoles protect the football, they should be fine in this one.
