College football has officially begun with several week 0 games already in the books. Kentucky football takes the field in just six days for their opener, and as we count down the days, we're getting to know the players on the roster. Today, we're taking a look at No. 6, Ahmad Breaux.
Breaux is a 6'3", 278 lb defensive lineman out of Ruston, Louisiana. As a member of the 2024 recruiting class, he was rated three stars by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 720 overall player in their composite rankings.
A number of offers came in for Breaux out of high school, including Ole Miss and Missouri of the SEC, but he stayed at home to play for the LSU Tigers. He would stay there for two seasons.
As a freshman, Breaux stepped into a regular role immediately, even starting a few games. He recorded 17 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss. Then, in year two, he 19 tackles and half a sack before entering the transfer policy after the season, and ending up with the Wildcats.
Coach Will Stein wants to establish a strong presence at defensive tackle this season, and has a strong rotation of players to do it with, including Breaux. His SEC experience is invaluable, and he will certainly get opportunities to show off his skills. He'll line up as a three-tech often, and get some chances to rush the passer, and figures to make a jump heading into his third season. He and Tavion Gadson have terrific potential as an interior pass rushing duo.
