This week’s episode of ‘Hard Knocks’ was the most revealing and simultaneously the most gut-wrenching to watch for Seattle Seahawks fans.
The season-ending injuries to Bud Clark and Jake Bobo were both shown on the broadcast, punctuating preceding segments in which we got to see Clark with his fiancee and their young son, as well as Bobo and his heart-to-heart with receivers coach Frisman Jackson.

— Tanner Phifer (@TannerPhifer) August 26, 2026Clark, who broke his ankle on the Seahawks’ first defensive play against the Tennessee Titans, immediately screamed out, “My sh-t just broke!” after an audible snap could be heard as he planted his right ankle. Incredibly, through the intense pain after suffering an injury that would leave him sidelined for months, Clark kept a remarkably positive attitude as he made his way onto the cart.

“Yeah, we gravy, we gravy,” Clark told the athletic trainers.
Clark later said to Coach Mike Macdonald, “Hell yeah, coach, we gravy. It hurts like a motherf—ker, though.”
After he’s told they’ll get him on the cart (with an air cast on) and send him into the locker room for x-rays, Clark replied, “Alright. That sounds cool. Cool.”
What the above video doesn’t show you is Clark in a video call with his fiancee and son, sounding in great spirits in the immediacy after a traumatic injury. He added, “They snap, crackle, popped my ass.”
Clark’s son asked his dad, “Who did that?” To which Bud replied, “I don’t know who did. You gonna kick their butt?” His son gave an approving “mm-hmm” and asked if dad will fix his bike. There is, of course, the part where Bud (with the help of his fiancee) has to gut through the pain as his ankle is wrapped up and placed in a boot.
It’s a sequence that is raw, real, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all at once, and it’s a shame that the first time Bud has been featured all series ends that way. He seems like a fun character with a great outlook on life, and he would’ve been a fun player to watch as a rookie in Mike Macdonald’s defense.
We can’t wait to see Bud healthy and whole for 2027.
