Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane is no stranger to Bundesliga defenders trying to make his life difficult on the pitch. During Bayern’s 5-1 win against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga opener, the striker had to deal with a demanding Swabian defense as he found himself in a grueling battle with Stuttgart’s center-back Jeff Chabot.
In a post-game interview (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Kane praised Chabot, while minimizing the, at times, hard tackles from the defender: “It was a good duel. There were a lot of fouls, but you have to expect that. I respect him as a player and as a defender. Of course, he does everything for his team to win this duel. I had to take some knocks, but that’s part of the game, too.”
After shaking hands with Chabot after the game, Kane reminded people that that sort of duels are expected when playing at this level.
“That’s what football is all about. I respect him and I’m sure we’ll play against each other again in the future,” stated Kane.
Kane was not able to score today, and that might have been due to Chabot’s firm defending. Nonetheless, with the striker’s current form, fans can expect Kane to be among the league’s top scorers this season.
