Klay Thompson has arrived in South Beach, eager to get to work with the Miami Heat. Thompson is out to prove to everyone that he can still be a key contributor despite being slowed down by knee injuries.
Thompson got his wish, joining a legitimate contender. He is expected to play significant minutes, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell, Bobby Portis, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Pelle Larsson in the core rotation.
The 36-year-old Thompson is chasing his fifth ring. Many have compared his move to the Heat to Ray Allen’s move in 2012. Both were in the late stage of their careers, hoping to win another championship with a loaded squad.

When asked about it, Thompson got excited.
“Of course I like those comparisons. I love Ray Allen. Are you kidding me? He and Reggie (Miller) were the blueprint for my whole off-ball formula. I still do the drills, I still watch their footage all the time, how they got open and how much they moved without the ball,” said the four-time champion on “Theoretically Speaking.”
“It gives me chills that I’m even in the same sentence as Ray because if you told me this my rookie season, I would’ve never believed you. Ray has one of the greatest shots, obviously, in NBA history, and I still practice that back pedal drill he did in Game 6 of 2013 (NBA Finals).”

While Thompson has more championships than Allen, who won two rings with the Heat and the Boston Celtics, he maintained that he will never claim that he was better than the legendary shooter.
“To be in the same breath as him is surreal, and it’s an honor,” added the five-time All-Star.
Thompson, who owns the single-game record for most three-pointers with 14, is No. 4 in the all-time three-pointers list, just one spot below Allen. Thompson has a good chance to surpass Allen, who is ahead by 74 three-pointers, this season.
Last season, Thompson drained 202 three-pointers in 69 games with the Dallas Mavericks.
