The National Weather Service in Wilmington has forecasted a high temperature of 92 degrees with a heat index exceeding 100 degrees for Friday, September 4, leading to concerns for player safety and comfort.
In response to the extreme heat, various schools have decided to adjust their game schedules. The following are the updated kickoff times for the affected games, as of 4 p.m. on Friday:
Preble Shawnee will face New Miami on Thursday at 8 p.m., while Ross will take on Northwest at 7:30 p.m. Miamisburg's game against Hilliard Davidson is also set to start at 7:30 p.m. due to the heat advisory.
Additionally, Lima Central Catholic's matchup with Urbana has been moved to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate transportation issues with LCC. Meanwhile, Olentangy Berlin's game against Centerville will keep its original start time of 7 p.m.
Several other games have also seen their kickoff times adjusted. Ponitz will play Carroll at 7:30 p.m., and Meadowdale will face Purcell Marian at 7:45 p.m. Wyoming's game against Monroe is set for 7:30 p.m., while Hillsboro will meet Waynesville at 8 p.m.
Other notable changes include Badin at Edgewood (7:30 p.m.), West Carrollton at Troy (8 p.m.), and Piqua at Greenville (8 p.m.). Sidney will take on Stebbins at 7:30 p.m., and Brookville will face Northridge at 8 p.m. Valley View's game against Bellbrook is also scheduled for 8 p.m., along with Butler at Xenia and Harrison at Beavercreek.
Trotwood will play Springfield at 8 p.m., and Carlisle's matchup with Bethel is set for 7:30 p.m. Middletown will face Fairfield at 8 p.m., and Olentangy Berlin will again meet Centerville at 7:30 p.m. Lastly, Dayton Christian will go up against Troy Christian at 8 p.m., and Tri-Village will take on Tri-County North at 7:30 p.m.
