The Houston Texans have officially released tight end Brevin Jordan, marking the end of his tenure with the team that began in 2021. This decision comes as part of the Texans' final roster cuts, which took place on Sunday afternoon.

Jordan's release is particularly significant as it is the first time he will enter free agency since being drafted. The tight end, who was selected by Houston in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, has faced considerable challenges over the past few seasons, primarily due to injuries.

According to reports, Jordan has been sidelined for the past two seasons, spending significant time on injured reserve. He suffered a torn ACL early in the 2024 season, which kept him out for the remainder of that year. The following season, he faced another setback, tearing a patellar tendon during practice and missing the entire 2025 season. Additionally, he dealt with a knee issue during the recent training camp, further complicating his efforts to secure a spot on the roster.

Despite these challenges, Jordan managed to participate in 36 games over his three seasons with the Texans, contributing to the passing game with 53 receptions for 532 yards and five touchdowns. His performance showcased his potential, even though he was never a regular starter.

Heading into training camp this year, Jordan was listed as the fourth tight end on the Texans' unofficial depth chart, indicating that he faced an uphill battle to make the team's initial 53-man roster. Although he showed promise early in camp, his knee injury ultimately hindered his chances and led to his release.

As Jordan has accrued more than four seasons in the NFL, he will not go through the waiver process and will immediately become a free agent. This opens the door for any NFL team to sign him, and while his time with the Texans has come to an end, there remains hope that he can continue his professional career elsewhere.

Jordan's departure is a bittersweet moment for Texans fans, as he was regarded as a fan favorite. His journey in the NFL has been fraught with difficulties, but the potential for a fresh start with another team could reignite his career.
