Michael Porter Jr. recently worked out with Kyrie Irving, and he had nothing but praise for the way the Dallas Mavericks man is moving after coming back from a massive injury.

NBA fans missed out on watching Kyrie Irving play during the 2025-26 NBA season. The Mavericks star missed the entire year while recovering from an ACL injury.

Coming back from an injury that severe at 34 years of age is no easy task. There was a lot of speculation about whether the skilled guard would fall off after this setback.

It seems that worry has been pointless, at least if one believes what Michael Porter Jr. has to say. The Brooklyn Nets star shared his experience of working out with Irving this offseason.

Kyrie is often put in the category of ‘your favourite player’s favourite player’. His incredible skill with the basketball is what has led to this. And that talent cannot be taken away.

While injury can really hamper stars who rely on athleticism, Irving has other strengths too. However, from the way MPJ describes it, it doesn’t even sound like the Mavericks star has lost a step.

“I was hooping with him yesterday and this is off of his ACL,” Porter Jr. said. “That dude was so cold, bro. I couldn’t believe how he was moving out there… Bro, it was nutty. It was crazy.”

Irving has one of the deepest bags of any player in NBA history. His handles, his finishing ability, and his shooting are all elite, and fans will be heartened to know the latest injury has not affected that.

Kyrie’s future with the Mavericks is a little up in the air, but if he can still produce at the highest level, Dallas will not want to let him go. One way or the other, fans will be waiting to see Irving back and doing what he does best.
