IMG Academy, renowned for its exceptional football program, has a storied history of producing elite talent, particularly on the offensive line. The Ascenders have seen numerous players transition from high school stardom to the NFL, with several recent first-round draft picks including Tyler Booker, Francis Mauigoa, and JC Latham. As IMG continues to dominate the high school football landscape, one of its standout prospects this season is junior offensive tackle Major Green.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 335 pounds, Major Green is currently ranked as the No. 10 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 21 recruit in the state of Florida for the 2028 class. The talented lineman has garnered over two dozen scholarship offers from prestigious programs such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, and Oregon. His impressive recruitment is a testament to his skill and potential on the field.
Green's journey to IMG Academy began in Virginia, where he expressed a desire to attend the prestigious school as a freshman. To enhance his visibility to college scouts, he began sharing his highlights on social media, which ultimately caught the attention of IMG Academy's coaching staff. After joining the program before the 2025 season, Green quickly established himself as a key player on the team.
This season, Green takes on a leadership role within a relatively inexperienced offensive line, as IMG Academy currently lacks starting senior offensive linemen. "Leading is good because I was pretty much used to leading," Green shared. With the departure of last year's senior class, which sent several players to top college programs, Green is stepping up to guide the younger players. He expressed confidence in the team's ability to perform, stating, "This year, we're starting off strong with the five up front."
IMG Academy opened the season with a commanding 59-10 victory against Lone Peak, the 2025 state runner-up from Utah. The offense, spearheaded by junior quarterback Jayden Wade, a Georgia commit, and a talented group of skill position players including senior wide receivers Eric McFarland (Texas A&M) and Osani Gayles (Alabama), along with junior running back Elijah Newman-Hall (Ohio State), has scored an impressive 59 points in each of their first two games.
Initially ranked No. 1 in the USA Today Super 25 national poll, IMG Academy has since dropped to No. 2, a shift attributed more to the early season successes of St. Thomas Aquinas rather than any shortcomings on IMG's part. Green remains optimistic about his team's potential, acknowledging their youth but emphasizing their determination to dominate on the field. "We’re still young. Last year, seniors. Our group is pretty young but we're working. We just step on the field, dominating," he said.
As Green focuses on the current season, he is also contemplating his future college options. While he is temporarily putting recruitment on the back burner, he knows what he seeks in a college program. "Loyalty is important. Are you going to help me make it to the next level? And how can you help me off the field, not just on the field?" he stated, reflecting his thoughtful approach to the recruiting process.
