“It could happen” Spalletti hints at Lucumi playing against Parma

Luciano Spalletti has hinted that we could see Jhon Lucumi make his debut for Juventus in the match against Parma in a few hours.

The defender joined the Bianconeri from Bologna as one of the best signings they have made this summer, as they look to strengthen their squad.

He had the chance to leave Bologna throughout the summer, and many clubs wanted to sign him, including Como, who agreed a deal with his former employers.

However, the centre-back insisted that he wanted to join Juventus and refused to entertain offers from other teams until the Old Lady arrived to seal a deal for his signature.

Lucumi pushes for Juventus debut

They managed to get the deal sorted, and the defender has trained with Spalletti’s team for at least a week. He could now be pushing for a start in the match against Parma.

It is an important game for Juve, who won but did not impress in their match against Frosinone. They will want to deliver a better performance against Parma.

Lucumi’s arrival has given Spalletti another option in defence, but the manager has made it clear that he will not rush the Colombian into the starting XI.

Spalletti praises new defender

Spalletti said via Tuttomercatoweb: “It could happen because his introduction is going very well, he’s strong and he’s good, but Kelly did very well in the first match against Frosinone. So we’re in no rush at the moment. This is something I will carefully evaluate and we are happy with what Lucumí is offering us. Sometimes if you don’t have the players in your sight you can miss something, but instead there are all the qualities we had seen and also that of knowing how to be in a group in a splendid way”.

The comments suggest that Lucumi has already made a positive impression since joining Juventus. However, Kelly’s performance against Frosinone means the new signing may have to wait for his opportunity.

Spalletti appears pleased with what he has seen from Lucumi in training and believes the defender has demonstrated the qualities expected of him. The final decision on whether he starts against Parma will be carefully considered.
