Ja’Marr Chase injury scare fallout from Bengals training camp

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, the franchise and the city seemed to dodge a major disaster on Tuesday. 

Chase went down with an injury after his foot got stuck in the ground, creating an awkward landing after attempting to high-point a contested pass. 

It looked bad upon live viewing, and Bengals defenders certainly looked concerned as Chase left the field with trainers. 

But it wasn’t long before he seemed to be in good spirits on the sidelines while chatting with teammates and unattended by trainers. 

On a radio session with ESPN1530, Chase called the whole thing “a little hyperextension” and went about his day before hitting the major interview circuit in the locker room:

“When it first happened, I sat back down on the ground. I just took a minute to God and prayed for a second. Then I got up.”

DJ Turner was tangled up with Chase on the play and wanted to make sure he was OK. “I didn't know what happened. I just saw him on the ground, so I was just like, ‘Yo, like, are you good?’ I just tried to make sure he was good. Next play, nothing like that matters at all. He said… pic.twitter.com/1cOKuskbH6

Chase said: “It’s just a freak accident. Stuff like this happens all the time. It’s football. Some things are out of my control, and that was one situation that I couldn’t control, but I can control now.”

So, barring a shocker, all is well that ends well for the Bengals and Chase on a day that had far more stress than necessary.
