Earlier this year, Anderson made the difficult decision to withdraw from competition in February to address ongoing health concerns. He later announced that he would need to take an indefinite leave to manage family matters. At the time of his withdrawal, he was performing well, sitting ninth in the championship points standings. The top 20 riders in the combined Supercross and Motocross points are automatically granted entry into the main events, while those ranked from 21st to 30th must compete in the Wild Card race to earn their place.

In the 2026 season, Anderson participated in seven rounds, achieving two top-five finishes in Supercross and a sixth-place finish overall.
