KENT — The anticipation for the upcoming basketball season is building as Kent State University has officially announced the schedules for both its men's and women's basketball teams competing in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The men's team will kick off its conference play on December 2, 2026, with a home game against Bowling Green, although the exact time for the tip-off has yet to be revealed.
This season, the Kent State men's basketball team will engage in a 22-game MAC schedule, facing all 11 other teams both at home and on the road. This marks a change from the previous season when the Golden Flashes played only 18 MAC games and did not encounter any conference opponents until December 20.
One of the highlights of the men's schedule will be the rivalry game against Akron, where Kent State will host the Zips on February 13, 2027, before concluding the regular season with an away game against them on March 5, 2027. These matchups are always highly anticipated, given the intense rivalry between the two teams.
On the women's side, the Kent State women's basketball team will begin its MAC season on January 2, 2027, facing Toledo in an away game. The Flashes will return home for their conference opener on January 9, 2027, when they take on Central Michigan. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Fran Recchia, the women's team will play a total of 18 MAC games this season.
Notably, the women's team will face Central Michigan and Ohio exclusively at home, while they will play Bowling Green and Miami only on the road. The rivalry with Akron is also on the women's schedule, with Kent State set to visit the Zips on January 30, 2027, before hosting them on February 27, 2027.
