Lancashire Cricket has announced the signing of veteran Pakistan spinner Noman Ali for the remainder of the 2026 County Championship season. This acquisition comes as the North-West county seeks to bolster its bowling lineup during a challenging campaign, coinciding with Pakistan's Test series against England later this month.
Noman Ali, who made a notable return to the Pakistan Test team in late 2024, has established himself as a formidable bowler. He climbed to the No.2 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings last October after an impressive series against England, where he claimed 20 wickets in the final two Tests. His performance was instrumental in Pakistan's remarkable turnaround, winning the series after being down 1-0. Furthermore, Noman made history by becoming the first Pakistani spinner to achieve a hat-trick during the 2025 series against the West Indies and recorded a 10-wicket haul in Lahore last year.
Despite his recent successes, Noman faced challenges earlier this year during Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh, where he took four wickets but was subsequently dropped from the team after the first Test. He was not included in the squad for the following matches against the West Indies or England, as Ali Usman took his place and performed well, helping Pakistan secure a victory in Port of Spain.
