Injury woes are continuing to haunt veteran 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans as the beginning of the regular season approaches.
Reports from NBS Sports reporter Matt Maiocco indicate that Evans is currently suffering from a groin injury and is missing practice on Tuesday after leaving practice early twice over the past week. Evans has not made any appearances during preseason action for the 49ers since joining the franchise this past offseason, after spending 12 seasons with the Buccaneers.

Injuries have been adding up for Evans in recent years, with him missing three games in 2024 due to hamstring issues before missing the most action of his career due to injury in 2025. He suffered both hamstring and clavicle injuries at different points of the season last year and would only play in eight games for the Buccaneers.
There is no doubt Evans can likely still play at a high level, as he posted his 11th-consecutive 1,000-yard season in the league in 2024, just two seasons ago. And after signing a three-year deal with San Francisco this offseason, it's clear he has designs on extending his career for a few more years. But with injuries adding up in recent seasons, questions are arising about his longevity.
