LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — NASCAR race weekend will take place during Father’s Day in the Irish Hills of Michigan for the first time in a decade, Michigan International Speedway announced Wednesday.
The NASCAR Cup Series race is set for Sunday, June 20, 2027, with the full weekend running June 18 through June 20. The speedway hosted NASCAR’s Father’s Day race for many years before it moved to a different race weekend in 2018.

(Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images)“We had a phenomenal race weekend back in June with a sold-out crowd, and it’s exciting to announce that NASCAR will be back in the Irish Hills during Father’s Day weekend in 2027,” MIS President Joe Fowler said in a statement.
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin won Michigan’s June race this season. It was the first time the speedway sold out since it cut capacity by nearly 60% from 2011 to 2018.
Next season’s race weekend will hold three races. The semi-professional ARCA Series race will run Friday, the NASCAR Truck Series will run Saturday, and the Cup Series race will run Sunday.
